Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNO): In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Sopore on Wednesday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Warpora headed by IC PP Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir and SHO PS Sopore during naka checking at Main Chowk Warpora, apprehended one person identified as Irfan Ahmad son of Ghulam Hassan Malik resident of Bilal Abad Warpora Sopore, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During the search, 160 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus were recovered from his possession. In this regard, a case under FIR number 51/2025 under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated, police said.
Moreover, in continuation to the investigation of the case FIR No. 44/2025 NDPS Act of Police Station Sopore, the name of another accused surfaced in the said case. Accordingly, a team of Police Post Fruit Mandi headed by IC PP Fruit Mandi got a search warrant from competent court and conducted the search of the residential house of the accused namely Firdous Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan Dar resident of Reban and recovered 374 grams of Charas like substance from the said house. Subsequently, accused has been arrested and further investigation of the case is going on, police said.
Police urged the common masses to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
